Audiobook Downloads Vs. Audiobook CDs – Which is Better?
A frequent question from people who love audio books online is the question of how audio book downloads compare to audio books on cd. The answer really depends on how you want to listen to the audiobooks. If you plan on using a CD player then by all means get the books on audio CDs as that’s probably the best solution for you. This is probably a good way to do it for kids. My kids liked to listen to CDs when they went to sleep. We could just set up the CD and then it would just stop playing when it ended. By then they were fast asleep.
If you want more flexibility you might want to get your audiobooks in a downloadable format so you can listen to audiobooks for ipad for example. Most good services will allow you to download your audio books in CD quality format along with some lower quality formats if storage space is an issue.
Plus if you choose the download option, you an still burn the audio book to a CD (usually 5-10 CDs) and then listen to them in a CD player.
This is my favorite way to do it. I find my favorite audio book in the download library. Hit the download button so that it automatically downloads into my iTunes folder. From there I can sync it up with my iPod, my iPhone or an iPad. I even managed to sync mine up with my Android phone as well.
When I was going on a long road trip, I burned some audio books to CD as well so that if my iPod battery ran out of juice I could listen using the CD player in the car. A perfect trip is usually 5 hours in each direction. That way you get to listen to most audio books in one setting as that’s about the length of an average audiobook.
