When learning to do whole different range of Taekwondo kicks a Taekwondo student really needs to know and understand the different distance their Taekwondo kicks have when sparring an opponent. So to be able to do this one of the best practise methods I have seen being done is to have a friend act as your opponent and you can work out your distances properly. If you can do them slowly you can start building up to using them in sparring. As with Taekwondo kicks you want them to be close to your opponent’s body when sparring, in fact you want to just touch them to score the point, you do not want to pummel them though and injure them. So a student needs to work on how close they can get their kicks to their opponent without injuring anyone. It is a skill, but one well worth working on.
